Manual recovery sweep
Manual Iowa claims/news sweep — Sep. 2, 2026
Purpose: This page was added to force a real IA Fact Check package hash change after the hourly research/build loop was found not to be generating new handoff packages. It queues current Iowa race topics for full verification and preserves the source trail for the next expansion pass.
Status: queued / needs full article-level claim cards. This is not a final rating page.
Queued claim/research items
- Governor race: cancer policy framing. Current coverage says Iowa’s cancer burden has become a central 2026 governor-race issue, with Rob Sand and Zach Lahn offering different approaches. Full IA Fact Check treatment should separate campaign framing from verified state cancer data, Medicaid/screening policy claims, and agricultural/environmental causation claims.
- Governor race: Zach Lahn “big ag” / anti-monopoly positioning. Coverage describes Lahn as a GOP nominee criticizing large agribusiness interests while also facing questions about wealth, residency, and political-network ties. Needs context card on what is documented versus what is inference.
- Rob Sand advertising and anti-corruption/“rigged system” messaging. Campaign release describes the “Crisis” ad and its claims about housing, water quality, economy, and political insiders. Needs item-by-item sourcing and rating.
- Hinson / Turek missed-vote claim context. Existing IA Fact Check source notes should remain explicit about time windows and vote categories: 2026-only House-vote comparison versus broader congressional-service comparisons.
- Brenna Bird / Meta settlement context. Existing source trail should distinguish documented enforcement terms from campaign-event interpretation.
Source trail for expansion
